Ahn Hyun-jung holds an M.A. in Sociology from Yonsei University and
earned both her M.A. in Art History and Ph.D. in Aesthetics from Sungkyunkwan
University. She is currently Chief Curator at the Sungkyunkwan University
Museum (Level 1 Certified Senior Curator) and previously worked at the National
Folk Museum of Korea and the Sungkok Art Museum. She has taught courses in art
history and arts management at institutions including Konkuk University, Seoul
Institute of the Arts, and Korea Cyber University. She now serves as an adjunct
professor at Yonsei University’s Graduate School of Public Administration.
Ahn has appeared regularly on major cultural
programs for Korea’s leading broadcasting networks—KBS, SBS, and EBS. She also
appeared on FM99.1 Gugak Radio’s Cultural
Era with Han Seok-jun, where she hosted the segment “Ahn Hyun-jung’s Art
Prism (2022–2024).” Her columns have been featured in The Dong-A Ilbo, The Korean Bar Association Journal, and The Seoul Arts Center Magazine.
She is the author of The Gaze of Modernity: Joseon Art Exhibitions and Popular Art and Cultural Contents. She
has written more than twenty academic papers, over four hundred reviews and
essays, and curated more than twenty exhibitions. Ahn currently serves as a
juror for the Ha In-doo Art Prize, a public art advisor for Shinsegae Starfield
Library, and an advisor to Art Space Seochon.
