Yoon Kwang-jun has long pursued the beauty of art across fields such as fine
art, music, architecture, and design, thereby seeking to see, hear, and
experience it directly. Extending this passion to gardens, he has visited
hundreds worldwide, with particular focus on Korea’s byeolseo
(traditional villa gardens). He has explored more than 200 pavilions and towers
scattered across the country. Some sites left him saddened by neglect, while
others astonished him with unexpected charm. These impressions, accumulated
over decades, are captured in photographs, notes, and short commentaries. From
this wealth of records, he selected the gardens that left the deepest
impressions, weaving them into vivid, concise prose. His writing draws the
reader into the spaces he describes, making them feel as though they, too, are
walking through the gardens.
His major works include The Ecstasy of Sound, A Well-Taken
Photograph, Yoon Kwang-jun’s 101 Everyday Masterpieces, The
Aesthetic Sense Class, and Spaces I Loved.
